Perspective 1:
"The merry year is born
Like the bright berry from the naked thorn."
Hartley Coleridge
Perspective 2:
"New Year's Day: Now is the accepted time to make your regular annual good resolutions. Next week you can begin paving hell with them as usual." Mark Twain

Creating vs. Destroying
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/7801662.stm
"Eric Fromm believes that we all desire to overcome, to transcend, another fact of our being: Our sense of being passive creatures. We want to be creators. There are many ways to be creative: We give birth, we plant seeds, we make pots, we paint pictures, we write books, we love each other. Creativity is, in fact, an expression of love. Unfortunately, some don't find an avenue for creativity. Frustrated, they attempt to transcend their passivity by becoming destroyers instead. Destroying puts me "above" the things -- or people -- I destroy. It makes me feel powerful. We can hate as well as love. But in the end, it fails to bring us that sense of transcendence we need."

"The Moon in the Sky Battered and Mangled" *

Some Notes:
1- Less and less people around me, means more and more space for the pop-up parade of memories...
2- Cant help but track daily phases of the moon... Waiting for full moon, "luna bella", makes crescent look prettier. (It is waning crescent today, 4% of full)
Yes, "it wont be by moonlight"** but it might be under the moonlight...
3- My christian friends invited me for christmas dinner today...According to many sources it is not the birthday of Jesus today, there is a long story about how/when Christmas first started to be celebrated...Of course I will not share this information with them tonight...
4- Watched the movie "Bitter Moon" (Lune de Fiel) last night and thought if bees are the only creatures always being on honeymoon (Lune de Miel)
5- It is Holidays season, everybody is travelling, me stuck here...Maybe it is better this way

Would Adam Smith* have wanted to know the future?
"Do you have Afghan Pomegranates? I asked one of the grocery salesman at the biggest supermarket here who was showing me white pomegranates from India. He said "no", little surprised...
"But why not? It is one of the best in the world." I knew there was no need for this further more-of-a-statement question. I lost my appetite for pomegranates and left the salesman with a blank look on his face...
And here is yesterday's news: "30000 more US troops for Afghanistan".
Let, if not rest of the world, American soldiers eat Afghan pomegranates and smell Afghan tulips and let Afghan youth continue studying the rules of modern capitalist economy and export-import theories at universities...
Maybe it is a blessing not to know the future...
*Adam Smith is best known as the father of liberal economic theory.

The pigeon and me at Buffalos Cafe
The Egyptian pigeon with long eyelashes passed by my cave yesterday and awakened the birds that had been sleeping there for a long time.
Fluttering and fluttering...
A football match on the screen on my left side and a basketball match on the one on my right side,
Loud music,
Some leather boots and pictures of cowboys from Texas hanging on the walls,
Dark tea, one after another,
Fluttering and fluttering that gives me both joy and pain for the pigeon does not know the intentions of the person missing from our table...The person who causes the constant fluttering...
And this morning...The song "Englishman in New York" brings to my mind poor Quentin and what he said once: "To love another you have to undertake some fragment of their destiny."
And Yes! As Leo Buscaglia already said, "Like any other living, growing thing, love requires effort to keep it healthy."
If I could I would whisper all these to the person who tied a purple thread of hope around the pigeon's leg. Alas, there is not enough effort as a proof being shown and no voice, and the pigeon seems tired of flying back and forth...

The hardest test
Abraham-the-great's self once had to
turn into a thread and pass through
the eye of the needle that sews mercy,
best defining the word 'sacrifice' and
embroidering it on mankind's history.
If you get blessed with a son,
when he becomes a wealthy man
tell him what needs to be done
to be sheltered by 'hekmah'
before we see the last Bang!

before we see the last Bang!
wandering around the wishing well
there is high tide in my eyes today,
tears cant wait to meet the shore
Mrs. autumn falls to the ground
digs a hole and lays down in there
after the wind stole her crown
there is slow music on the radio and
a sad, wise silence outside today
