Grace to Sip

DESCENT

by Rumi
I made a far journey
Earth's fair cities to view,
but like to love's city
City none I knew

At the first I knew not
That city's worth,
And turned in my folly
A wanderer on earth.
From so sweet a country
I must needs pass,
And like to cattle
Grazed on every grass.

As Moses' people
I would liefer eat
Garlic, than manna
And celestial meat.

What voice in this world
to my ear has come
Save the voice of love
Was a tapped drum.
Yet for that drum-tap
From the world of All
Into this perishing
Land I did fall.
That world a lone spirit
Inhabiting.
Like a snake I crept
Without foot or wing.

The wine that was laughter
And grace to sip
Like a rose I tasted
Without throat or lip.

'Spirit, go a journey,'
Love's voice said:
'Lo, a home of travail
I have made.'

Much, much I cried:
'I will not go';
Yea, and rent my raiment
And made great woe.

Even as now I shrink
To be gone from here,
Even so thence
To part I did fear.

'Spirit, go thy way,'
Love called again,
'And I shall be ever nigh thee
As they neck's vein.'

Much did love enchant me
And made much guile;
Love's guile and enchantment
Capture me the while.

In ignorance and folly
When my wings I spread,
From palace unto prison
I was swiftly sped.

Now I would tell
How thither thou mayst come;
But ah, my pen is broke
And I am dumb.

Tango of Tears*

"...we shall be old and happy one day..." said the Precious while I was playing this tango lyrics of which sounded strange yet somehow like a warm whistle of someone familiar....

"less is more"

- Do you think the earth coughs and sneezes sometimes?
- Sure it does! Think of earthquakes and other natural disasters...
- Does it smile with joy like us every now and then?
- Yes, haven't you seen night blooming jasmine blossoms before!?
- Why have you stopped? Keep on talking.
- Coz less is more...

the "I"

To say "I love you" one must first be able to say the "I." - Ayn Rand

Do not even wait...

I recalled Franz Kafka this morning, dont know why. He might have wanted to be remembered, who knows...Or a-few-days-guest-of-mine, flu the sluggish is playing an 'associations game' with me, shuffling my memory and picking out a name randomly...Or my end-of-month-mood is boycotting my latest firm stance against hopelessness using its best cards stored in my memory...
He said:
"It is not necessary that you leave the house. Remain at your table and listen. Do not even listen, only wait. Do not even wait, be wholly still and alone. The world will present itself to you for its unmasking, it can do no other, in ecstasy it will writhe at your feet."

Yellowish Black

The weekend was on the way wearing her bright yellow dress and sandals made of sea shells, hips shaking with the rhythms of aqustic and drums. She kept sun-tanning creams, icy lemonades and her half-to-be-read-book in her big bag. As she started to ask around "anybody wants to dance barefoot on a beach now?" she felt a sourness in her mind caused by the thoughts of people who might be hungry/ under danger/ under torture/feeling lonely/... at that moment.

She threw the bag away and played her CD and shared her cigarette with the music that was supposed to be for dancing...

high tide - low tide: lets hide:)

...His mouth tasted like cigarettes and she liked it, her mouth tasted like sugarfree chewing gum and he liked it. She kissed his temple then his elbow while searching for a never kissed part of his body. He smiled...His silence had always said more than his words had done...
Then the ocean between them became calmer. While she was drinking her dark tea he played one of her favorite songs...

My Witty Five

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eh5-kYP45pg

I dont know if everybody has a lucky/favorite number. Mine is 5...Dont know why, it has been my sweet number since my childhood. Is it something instinctive for one to feel close towards a particular number or color? Purple attracts me more than other colors. Then is it silly trying to find familiarity between "5" & "purple" for my case:)
Would not that be interesting to watch Dave Brubeck playing "take five" five times, wearing a purple suit, haha:) I think when we start playing with numbers the outcome is quite humorous...

I better read the book " Mystery of numbers" by Annemarie Schimmel. There are two reviews of the book down here:

Do not curse me if you decide the read the book and get lost inside the labyrinth of numbers:)

Sour Times

Carving a tiny seat in a forgotten corner of the wooden world keeping in mind that wood can breath...placing yourself on the seat in this never-to-be-seen-by-others hollow after hanging your dreams on its wooden walls gently...Keeping the eye-like exit open to continue sharing your secret presence with the light beams...Drinking your silence to be able to sing powerfully when you decide to come out...Trying to stay in peace with the sour times...

My song, your song, their songs...

"Life is a song that we compose till the moment we die. Imagine that God will listen to the songs of everyone, some will make him smile while others will cause him to pout" she said after taking one more puff. She did not know if she loved or hated those ultra-light cigarettes...She was rubbing one foot on another, her feet were always cold...
